Spent Xmas at this countryside hotel. The room was spacious and had a comfortable bed. Meals were served buffet style with a wide range of options. The calm atmosphere made it easy to relax and enjoy the holiday. Location was close to the main attractions and offered stunning views of the surrounding nature. The staff was generally helpful and attentive to our needs.
The hotel lacked entertainment options, especially during the festive season. The evening pianist was not skilled and played the same songs every night.

The rooms were very comfortable and clean and staff was very friendly. Buffet dining is good, but nothing special. The pool and grounds are nice - and very quiet n the evening.
Pricing and services are geared to package tours and people travelling with a driver. Although you can see Sigirya from the grounds, it is more than 10k away, so you will need a transport plan to visit. The hotel is not geared to provide this service and so any option they arrange will be at a bit of a premium. Also note that very slow internet connectivity is provided via dongle and guests must share this with the hotel office (who use it for work).

Rooms were simple but very nice. The whole landscape was beautiful. Dinner and breakfast were delicious- very fresh and homecooked meals with authentic Sri Lankan food.
The only small downside was the front desk staff- it was a bit difficult to communicate with them about getting to sightseeing. Their English wasn't as strong as most hotel staff, and they weren't as knowledgable about times and prices for getting to nearby sights as a front desk should be. Otherwise, great hotel.

Food was excellent. Swimming pool large and clean. Staff very helpful. My partners glasses had a broken frame and at no cost they glued them together with crazy glue. The only down side was that our 3 day rate of 285 was actually much higher as they add 10 per cent service plus government taxes so actual rate is much higher. Still worth it as it is a first class place with best spaghetti in Sri Lanka and excellent breakfast included. Very comfortable and English cable tv cnn and movies

The property was surrounded by trees and the swimming pool was large enough for two people. the bathroom had a unique open shower that added to the romance. the hotel was located in a good area, close to famous attractions and it was easy to get around.
Upon arrival, the room was not ready even though check-in was supposed to be at 2pm. We had to wait for over an hour for our room to be prepared.

The Kassapa Lions Rock hotel is a great place to stay and experience Sri Lanka and its culture - set in beautiful and serene location with stunning views of Sigirya Rock. In addition to the wildlife, birds, elephants, monkeys, reptiles that roam freely in the jungle surrounding the hotel. There are many wildlife National Parks surrounding the area where local villagers and wildlife happily co-exist together. The hotel is central to all the spectacular and historical sites in the Cultural Triangle, not forgetting the manmade 'Tanks' (lakes) that are a great reminder of Sri Lanka's historical past, revealing the superb architecture and irrigation systems of the ancient Sri Lankans. There are some Tanks close to the hotel, where local villagers and elephants can be seen swimming and bathing. The hotel has excellent staff and management that go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. Most of the hotel staff can speak English, as well as some other languages to communicate with the many Nationalities that come and stay at the hotel. The food is great and plenty of it with an abundance of choices from the Western and Eastern menus. The chef will even cook your favourite meals, but there is always something to tempt the palette, or something different you may not have experienced before. The food is always freshly cooked with added herbs and spices. Maintenance was always evident on swimming pool, hotel grounds and buildings; and the room was cleaned twice daily, including turning down the bed in the evening - quaint I loved swimming in the fresh-water pool, especially in the evening with the lights on, giving a lovely romantic look about the place; as well as being a refreshing leisure activity before dinner. A great stay!

Staff were extremely helpful and attentive. Room was clean, comfortable and met all expectations. Nice swimming pool and gardens with view of Sigiriya Lion Rock. Breakfast and dinner buffets were good with Sri Lankan and European food. Our room had an open shower which meant that when it rained you could not put your towel by the shower (bath and wc under cover). The minibar was not stocked so there was space for your own things.- There was a bar by the dining room for drinks. Hairdryer could be obtained from reception. Excellent value for your money. I would definitely recommend or stay there again.
Internet (via dongle) was chargeable and inconvenient. Having a driver is recommended.
